Lesson 6 - Process Control Mechanisms
This lesson looks more closely at the mechanisms of process control. It identifies and explores the different ways in which variables can be controlled, including the types of process control used for this. It also investigates how process controls work. and will briefly touch upon control configurations and sequence control.
Combined PID Control
Although it is not always the best method to choose, it is possible to combine all the elements in one controller. However, each loop must be considered.
Imagine that we have proportional, integral, and derivative control all in one. What happens now? Put the equation together by adding the three terms. Can you show on a graph what it would look like if you compared P, PI and PID control? Give yourself 5-10 minutes to think about this, and then click ‘Next’ to continue with this lesson.
