In this lesson we take a closer look at effluent from a utilities perspective. We will consider different forms of effluent treatment.
Other Treatment Options
For smaller operations, traditional systems such as anaerobic and aerobic treatment may be too costly or too difficult to manage.
Smaller operations can, however, face similar legislative challenges, or may want to improve their effluent discharge for sustainability reasons.
Luckily, cost-effective options do exist on a smaller scale. One such system uses a physical-chemical method to settle out the solids and then do final polishing using membranes.
