Lesson 4 - Principles of Fluid Mechanics 2
This lesson will extend our knowledge of fluid mechanics by considering two important laws: the conservation of both mass and energy. We will also examine the various flow regimes which are present within a pipe or duct carrying moving fluids.
Preface
An important aspect of fluid mechanics in a maltings or brewery is the ability to move fluids from one place to another. This is a significant part of the process, whether it be down a pipeline or an air duct, or from one part of a vessel to elsewhere in the same vessel, such as in a blending tank. The principles behind such movements are described by fluid dynamics, which we briefly introduced previously.
In this lesson, we will extend our knowledge of fluid dynamics by considering two important laws: the conservation of both mass and energy. We will also look at the various flow regimes which are present within a pipe or duct carrying moving fluids.
