Preface

Welcome to our lesson on maths. This lesson is designed to help you understand the maths you will encounter in Diploma lessons. You won’t be examined on the maths in this lesson directly, but you will have to use maths in your exams to answer technical questions. You will probably know some or most of it, so there is no requirement to study it all in detail. Instead, you can use it as a reference to help demystify any maths you are struggling with in the lessons.

This lesson starts with the very basics and builds to the more complex concepts. Although you may know the simple stuff, it’s a good idea to work through this to remind you of the basics before you get on to the tricky stuff.

The key to excelling in all things mathematical is practice, practice, and more practice. There are, therefore, lots of opportunities throughout the lesson for you to attempt some questions and then get an explanation of the answer from a maths maestro.

If you are brilliant at maths and have never seen anything in the CIBD lessons that you need help with, then congratulations! You don’t need to spend time on this lesson.

If not, enjoy!
