** How would you combine valve actuators and feedback on open/closed positions in order to safeguard a process?
Response:
If the valve is ‘air to open / spring to close’ you can be reasonably sure it will close when the output is taken away. You would therefore use a position sensor to confirm that the valve is in the open position. If the valve is ‘air to close / spring to open’, then the position sensor must be installed to confirm that the valve is in the closed position. If the valve is ‘air to open / air to close’ then feedback should be on both open and closed.
