Suggested Response - Q3
*What is the difference between catabolism and anabolism?
Response:
Catabolism and anabolism are words derived from Greek meaning to break down and to build, respectively. In biochemistry, catabolism means the parts of the metabolism that are involved in breaking compounds down, forming and storing energy and making simpler building blocks that can be used in anabolic reactions. Anabolism uses the building blocks and the stored energy in biosynthetic reactions; for example, to make new biomass.
