Suggested Response - Q3

*What is passivation of stainless steel?

Response:

A passive, chromium-rich oxide film forms naturally on the surface of stainless steel. It is chemically stable in conditions which provide sufficient oxygen to the surface. This passive state is its normal condition. When the film is damaged it can repair itself, in the presence of adequate oxygen.
