Lesson 7 - Sensory Analysis SAQ
This lesson enables you to test yourself on the material covered in the Sensory Analysis lesson, and determine the level to which you have met the learning outcomes.
Suggested Response - Q2
*Give a strength and a weakness for each of the following difference tests.
Response:
a) Triangle test
Strength: Simple to undertake and more statistically efficient than paired comparison.
Weakness: Fairly large number of assessors required and difficult to present an identical pair of samples that is different to the sample in question.
b) Two out of Five
Strength: Statistically more efficient than the Triangle test and paired comparison test.
Weakness: As there are five samples to taste, the scope for sensory fatigue is highest of all the difference tests.
c) Paired comparison
Strength: Simplest difference test to conduct, lowest scope for sensory fatigue.
Weakness: Statistically least efficient of the difference tests.
