Suggested Response - Q1

* What are the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals?

Response:

The UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are 17 development goals that have been adopted by all UN member states. They were launched in 2015 and provide a framework of what the global community is aiming to achieve in development and sustainability by 2030.

The goals were created by the UN in collaboration with governments and businesses. They act as an urgent call to action on the vast challenges that societies face around the globe. The goals recognise that improving outcomes for people (such as ending poverty and improving health and education), must go hand-in-hand with tackling environmental challenges such as climate change and preserving our oceans and forests.

Amongst the 17 SDGs are goals that pertain directly to brewery operations, such as:

  • Clean water and sanitation

  • Affordable and clean energy

  • Responsible consumption and production

  • Climate action
