Key Information about the Learning Material
Unit Structure
Each unit is broken down into a series of lessons.
The units all begin with a lesson that introduces the unit. For example, the malt unit begins with a lesson titled ‘Introduction to Malt’. This lesson provides a brief overview of the topics that you will study in the forthcoming unit. Each new unit builds upon your previous learning and it is recommended that you work through the Units in order.
The CIBD offers qualifications that build on the knowledge of each preceding qualification and for this reason the DB1 learning material does not re-teach concepts that are considered pre-requisite learning principles (for example, the material covered in the General Certificate of Brewing). The DB1 learning material is written at the appropriate level for a Diploma level learner.
